the power of the huckstables...
yesterday, ron and i were in holly's car while she was filling up with gas. holly was talking about the new camry hybrid she might be getting as a company car. i said bill cosby was on tv the other day talking about his electric car and how he's only spent 6 dollars to fill it up. ron said, yeah, he just plugs it into his sweater!

calling all recipes...
i'm sick of hearing "what's for dinner?" every night. i'm sick of not knowing what to fix. ron and i typically have fish and salad or broccoli. we've been trying to plan our meals out for the week, but sometimes the food goes bad before we can use it or we just don't want that meal. i will take any suggestions for vegetarian meal ideas, or any seafood ideas. please post on comment page!! thanks in advance.

2008 olympics
ron and i have been watching the olympics every night. my favorite events, of course, are swimming and gymnastics.
we watchted the men's 4 X 100 freestyle relay. holy cow! i used to swim, so for me, that was exciting! i said this was going to be "the" moment for USA, and that's all i heard today.
my sisters and i were lucky to swim the same event on the high school swim team. there were 4 of us and my dad was so proud of us, and still tells people about it today!! he used to coach, and got a team out of us somehow. he even calls us "team" when we're all back together and are heading out somewhere. "Come on, Team! reservations are in 10 minutes, let's hustle!"
anyway, i didn't think it was going to happen, but somehow from a body length behind, Lezak came from behind. his last 10 strokes were incredible. it was like he was lifting out of the water his feet were kicking so hard. awesome!
the gymnastics are getting better too. people aren't falling on there faces like they used to. i remember the 96 olympics 3 men landed flat on their face and bounced off the ground. everyone is getting better at sticking the landings.

Times are hard.
(Overheard @ Kmart)
Cashier: (to other cashier) Girl, I was just beginning to show too. You could see my stomach through my shirt a little.
Customer: Oh, did you have a miscarriage?
Cashier: Uh-huh, here, last night.
Customer: What? And you're here again today?
Cashier: Yeah, they said I shoulda stayed home, but you know, I need the money.

the Ting Tings
Ron and i went to the Bluebird last night to see the Ting Tings. Alice came, and we saw Rachel and john there too.
Goddamn was it hot!!
it was a good 20 degrees cooler outside than it was inside. the opener was some girl named "natalie", and it was aweful! if you put yourself on stage, prepare to be criticized! she played piano pretty well, but her singing was off-key and horrible. now, i know that some of that off-key singing is popular these days, but this girl just couldn't sing. by the time the ting tings got on stage, we were all glistening with sweat. and after about 6 songs, we were all dripping with sweat and they were done! it was the shortest, but sweetest show i've seen.
